Registration for Veterans and Volunteers
Veterans, Pro-Boaters (those bringing a bass boat to take a Vet fishing) and General Volunteers, please register online as soon as possible. Boaters please bring enough safety and fishing gear for the Veterans.

The 15th Annual Tips-Up for Troops Veterans and Pro-Boater bass fishing tournament and picnic is Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Kent Lake in Kensington Metropark, near Brighton, Michigan, launching from the West Boat Launch. Volunteer Boaters, general volunteers and Veterans must register for the event. Use the 2020 Registration Link – the earlier, the better!

Combat-injured and Disabled Veterans, along with currently serving Military Personnel who are chosen from the registered participants will be taken fishing from 7:30 AM until 12:00 Noon by Pro-Boater volunteers. Boats and Partners will be assigned by Tournament staff, unless otherwise requested, on a first-come, first-serve basis from 6:00 AM until 7:00 AM. Do not be late.   • What: 15th Annual Tips-Up for Troops Veterans Bass Fishing Tournament and Free Picnic.
  • When: Saturday, June 13, 2020
  • Where: Kent Lake, Kensington Metropark near Brighton, Michigan. West Boat Ramp Pavilion.
  • Who: Fishing – Combat-injured and disabled Veterans, currently serving Military Personnel with volunteer Pro-Boaters; Picnic – volunteers and Veteran’s family members. All volunteers and participants must register before the event!
  • Angler/Boater Check-in Time: 0600 to 0700
  • Fishing Time: 0730 to 1200
  • Why: To support our Troops and the Motor City Veteran Hockey Association.

Participant family members are welcome to watch the opening ceremonies and boat take-off at 7:30 AM, as well as participate in park activities around the beautiful Kensington Metropark, such as the Farm Center and Petting Zoo, or nature walk. There may be some park fees for Metropark activities. Participant family members are also invited to the free picnic, and weigh-in show run by Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation, at the West Boat Ramp Pavilion after the fishing.

Please volunteer to support our troops at Kent Lake and the Motor City Veteran Hockey Association. June 12 and 13 are also Michigan Free Fishing weekend dates so a Michigan fishing license is not necessary those two days (although the purchase of Michigan fishing licenses go directly to Michigan fisheries management as the primary budget source for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division).
