How to Start a Bass Club

Are you an individual wanting to join Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation?

Visit our Active Clubs List to find an existing club in your area. If there are no clubs taking new members in your area you can join our “M.B.N. Statewide Bass Club,” or contact our Membership Outreach Director below for further assistance. (Youth anglers visit our Youth section.)

Many bass anglers have asked, “How do I start a new club?” Once you have at least 6 people together that have the desire to start a bass club you need to do the following:

1. Contact The B.A.S.S. Nation

Call B.A.S.S. at 1-877-BASS-USA and ask for the B.A.S.S. Nation Department. Then request the Information Packet required to form a new bass club. After the information packet arrives read the information and follow the instructions. It will cost $30.00 a member to register your new club with B.A.S.S. They will send confirmation that your club is registered.

*NOTE: Remember all of your prospective members have to be members of B.A.S.S.

2. Contact Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation (MBN)

  1. Put a roster together. Include the Name, Address, Telephone Number, B.A.S.S. Member Number and Email Address for each member.
  2. Make sure you indicate who the Club President and Secretary are.
  3. MBN dues are $30.00 per member.
  4. Prepare your request to join M.B.N., include the following:
    1. Your B.A.S.S. confirmation.
    2. A Club Roster – see Member Forms – New Club Roster Form link. Note: Our new club roster form is being redesigned as an online form. The link will be updated as soon as it is available.
    3. Your dues for all of your members listed.

Remember, the membership deadline to be able to still fish the State Championship or the Classic Series Team Championship is MAY 1st.

For your information: There are four (4) Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation Presidents meetings a year. The meetings are usually held in October, December, February/March and April. Club Rosters and dues are due before the end of the year. For your club to be eligible to fish the State Championship and any other Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation tournaments, a club must be represented in at least two of the four Presidents meetings and have their dues paid at the December Presidents meeting.

This excludes new clubs that started after the December meeting. The final roster is due May 1st. It will determine the members of the club who are eligible to fish the State Championship and other tournaments.
