The Michigan B.A.S.S. Federation was established in 1973. For more than 40 years, the BASS Federation has been more than a name. It has been a community united by a sense of camaraderie and a spirit of belonging to something unique which carries from generation to generation. Our name was changed to B.A.S.S. NATION in 2012.
The group works diligently for our members and sponsors. Currently, we have over 600 members.
Over the years, our members have decided to join the Michigan B.A.S.S. NATION for several reasons in addition to the exciting tournament fishing. The vision of true pioneers in our history — Ray Scott, Don Butler and many others — established conservation and a focus on building youth programs in addition to fishing competitions as areas critical to the viability of the sport and our lifestyle. The Michigan B.A.S.S. NATION is committed to the same ideals and programs.
Conservation initiatives remain an important aspect of the Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation. Our members are dedicated to the preservation of our natural resources. For example, our Conservation Director was very influential in the recent change of Michigan’s extended catch and release fishing season.
The Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation understands the important role youth play in the continued growth and preservation of bass fishing. We have established many youth chapters throughout the state.
We hope you will join us in our mission.
